Happy Monday! It is very often that we find ourselves overthinking about the work week ahead and stressing about our endless task list, or occupied meeting calendar. Lost in the rush, you might even find yourself wondering if you actually want to meet up with your friend for dinner on Wednesday? Will you have the time, the energy, the motivation? How about we hit pause for a second? Here are a couple mindfulness tips to help you get there:

5 Mindfulness Tips for Over-thinkers

  1. Designate a daily chunk of time(like 30 minutes) where you allow yourself to focus on one activity such as cooking a new dish, joining a workout class, or listening to music.
  2. Celebrate small wins. Pull up your phone or notebook and recognize 5 times in the past week where you felt like you’ve been successful.
  3. Try meditating. If you find it difficult to practice meditation on your own, you can listen to a podcast walking you through a quick meditation.
  4. Recognize your automated negative thoughts(ANTs). These thoughts surrounding inner fears or anger usually come to you automatically but aren’t necessarily logical.
  5. Try a breathing exercise. Try belly breathing for 10 minutes, slowly filling and emptying your belly with breath and focusing on the rhythm.
